One of the final remnants of the first Xbox generation is disappearing. On September 14th, Microsoft will replace Xbox Live Gold with a Game Pass Core tier, the company has announced.

As before, the business requires a $60 yearly (or $10 monthly) subscription to play many (but not all) online multiplayer games on consoles, but it also heralds a change in the way additional games are distributed.

The firm is discontinuing Games with Gold, which provided a consistent stream of games for Live users. Instead, you’ll receive a foundational library of more than 25 titles, along with fresh additions two to three times annually.

Xbox Game Pass Core

Remember that as long as they continue to be Core or Game Pass Ultimate members, players will still have access to any Xbox One games they redeem through Games With Gold.

Regardless of the plan chosen, any Xbox 360 item redeemed through Games With Gold will remain in the player’s library.

Additionally, the company has divided Game Pass itself into a number of programs, providing users with more choices when they choose a subscription.

Many of the plans, however, have limitations, which encourages consumers to purchase the most pricey option, Game Pass Ultimate.

You might wish to switch to a plan that better meets your needs now that there are additional options available. You must go to the Xbox website to accomplish this.

Click on your profile image in the top right after logging into your Xbox account. After that, choose “My Microsoft account.”

Then, click “Manage” next to Game Pass/Xbox Live Gold under “Subscriptions.” When you get there, you may either choose to halt the auto-renewal or to completely cancel it.

The modifications will take effect after your multi-month or annual subscription expires, if you purchased one.

In September, the program will debut, automatically upgrading Xbox Live Gold subscribers to Game Pass Core.
