In an effort to increase engagement with its social media platforms, Facebook owner Meta Makes AI ChatBots with distinct personalities, which may release as early as next month.

Meta Makes AI ChatBots with 30 Different Personalities to Retain Users

The tech titan, led by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has been developing prototypes for chatbots that can have human-like conversations with its roughly 4 billion users.According to these sources, some of the chatbots, termed “personas” by staff, take on the appearance of other characters. According to a person familiar with the ideas, the corporation has considered introducing one that looks like Abraham Lincoln and another that gives travel advice in the guise of a surfer.

Aside from being a fun novelty for consumers to experiment with—and an excuse to spend more time on Meta’s apps—if Meta Makes AI Chatbots, it might potentially improve the search functionality of the company’s assets, which include Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. It may also provide recommendations.

Meta may be the first business to release an AI with the recreated personality of a long-dead president, but it is far from the first to introduce a chatbot that mimics human behaviours. Character.AI is an app that allows users to “chat” with fictional and real-life individuals, including a synthetic (and somewhat bombastic) Elon Musk.

Privacy Issues if Meta Makes AI ChatBots
The implementation of AI chatbots on Meta platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp presents privacy problems. Notably, these chatbots will almost certainly gather fresh troves of user data, allowing Meta to give more personalised information and adverts. It’s an important consideration given that advertising accounts for a sizable percentage of Meta’s $117 billion annual revenue.

Recent Meta AI Improvements
Meta recently revealed 22 system cards explaining how AI evaluates content across Facebook and Instagram to increase transparency. These cards demonstrate how AI algorithms help Meta social platform users. In collaboration with Microsoft, Meta also launched the latest version of their large language model, Llama 2. The open-source LLM is available for business and academic use.
