Daybreak Games has announced that DC Universe Online, the MMO set in the DC Universe that has been going strong since 2011 and manages to still have active players on antiquated technology like the PS3, is moving to contemporary platforms this year.

DC Universe Online

The game will soon be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, which is fantastic news for DC Universe Online players. It will debut on current-generation consoles this Christmas season – maybe before the end of the year – and include gameplay and quality-of-life upgrades, as Senior Community Manager Ted Stone stated in the most recent development update.

And according to Stone, if a user of DC Universe Online switches from an outdated system to a newer one, they will “continue to play on the same servers with their existing characters and friends, and with all of their purchases and achievements seamlessly intact.”

According to Stone, “the team is working on gameplay and quality of life improvements to match the performance gains found playing natively on the latest and greatest hardware.”

This project is a lengthy undertaking that has already begun. Some of these improvements will be made before the new consoles go on sale, while others will be made during launch, and the other adjustments will be made throughout the course of the next year.
